Vietnam Crackdown On Online Games

July 30th 2010 21:08
Not even the rarest armour in Azeroth can withstand a parental committee

Extreme gamers in Vietnam force the government to implement curfews for stores with online games.

The country’s Ministry of Information and Communication reacts to the public outcry of online game related murders and robberies.

Reported by Associated Press, the government has now enforced 11pm curfews to Internet Providers to turn off internet access to shops hosting online games.

It is reportedly common to find teenagers lining up at one of the 3,000 plus Internet Cafes around Vietnam’s capital city, Hanoi.

One of the shocking reports which sparked such a decision involves a 15 year-old girl strangling a 4-year old girl for their money.

Are online subscriptions to blame? More like lack of parental control.

The ministry has also banned the advertisement of online games, on top of restricting access to violent and pornographic content.
