Give someone an expensive guitar doesn’t make them a rock star. Or give someone a Tournament Edition joystick doesn’t make them a great player.
Iplaywinner released their tier sheet on their website, including the 10 new characters released in Super Street Fighter 4 a week ago.
I have to tip my hat to the guys at Iplaywinner for compiling what has to be a very difficult undertaking to make the stats as accurate as possible.
The Tier ranking is a table of numbers which outline the amount of games a character would beat another, based on their strengths and weaknesses.
A plus is viewed the strongest/most likely to win a bout and D is the weakest/hardest player to win with.
Of course, this is not the definite guide of who is the better character over another. A player that mastered a D grade (lowest ranking) character, like Dan, will likely kick the ass of an in-experienced A grade player using Sagat.
But this is a great graph to what players might want to consider when playing competitively.
I always get a rush when I’m paired against a Sagat player while using Dudley, as I know the fight can be an intense or even one sided affair.
According to the Gamer’s Edition of the Guinness World Records 2010, Capcom released online figures revealing Sagat as the strongest fighter, winning 61% of matches when used.
Surprisingly, Rose is the weakest character with 44% chance of winning.
So Dan isn’t a joke character as he is assumed to be, even thought he has a host of weak and ineffective attacks.
Below is the Tier as graded by Iplaywinner and may subject to change in a month time:
A plus: Sagat, Guile, Rufus, Akuma and Abel.
A: Ryu, Bison and C. Viper.
B plus : Chun Li, Balrog, E. Honda, Dhalsim and Ibuki.
B: Zangief, El Fuerte, Seth, Blanka, Dudley, Rose (wah!), Cammy, Ken and Juri.
C: T. Hawk, Guy, Cody, Vega, Adon, DeeJay, Fei Long, Gouken and Gen.
D: Dan, Makoto, Hakan and Sakura.
