StarCraft 2 developers, Blizzard, will release four official mods for their fans for free in the coming months but playable at the event.
The name of the mods is Auir Chef, Left 2 Die, StarJeweled and Blizzard Defence of the Ancients (DotA).
Does the last two sound familiar? StarJeweled is a play on words of Bejeweled and adds gem matching to create basic units and resources. The latter allows the creation of much strong units on the field for that added strategy al a Puzzle Quest.
Blizzard DotA is Warcraft 3’s DotA hero-focused mod but using StarCraft assets. The teams are split between Terran/Protoss against Infested/Zerg. Escapist Magazine's John Funk witnessed around 12 playable heroes at the event, including WarCraft heroes Sylvanas Windrunner and Muradin Bronzebeard.
Auir Chef is a food gathering simulation in a StarCraft setting. Your goal is to gather ingrediants scattered across the map to make food at your base to gain points. Each meal requires certain ingrediants, which makes each round unique and confrontations motivating. The player with the most points gain the title Executor Chef.
Left 2 Die is Left 4 Dead in RTS form with StarCraft 2 objectives. Enemies include a creature similar to the "Boomer" spewing acid to cause damage and a Hunterling that jumps at units. Kotaku cites as a "new co-op take on the StarCraft 2 campaign mission ‘Outbreak’”, where the strategy is destroying enemy buildings during the day and defending the player's base at night.
