Red Dead Comparison

May 19th 2010 03:09

Technology website, Ars Technica, had reviewed the differences between the PS3 and 360 versions of the upcoming, and highly praised, Red Dead Redemption.

The differences are on a graphical level. The 360 version is described to have “less aliasing” and “smother graphics across the board”.

Backing up this analysis is tested evidence by Beyond3D forum member, Al_Strong, revealed through a report by video game website, Computer And Video Games.

Red Dead Redemption on the 360 is running a vertical resolution of 720p with 2x anti-aliasing, while the PS3 is only running with a vertical resolution of 640p.

The differences are said to be minor, and CVG had posted a side-by-side screenshot of the graphical differences. Both sources agree the game still looks stellar, no matter which console the game is played on.

For the uninitiated, aliasing is the jagged edges on the surface of character models when they are moving.

The game will be released this Friday in Australia.
