Pac-Man Claims "Popular" Achievement
August 10th 2010 01:07
The first video game character created, which isn’t a space ship, has just became the first fictional character to be inducted into the International Video Game Hall of Fame in Ottumwa, Iwa on August 7th.
Pac-Man has claimed the award for being in the most popular video game in history. Maybe the old rumour of the 800 yen shortage in Japan because of Pac-Man arcade machines isn’t a rumour after all.
Nineteen video gamers with the highest scores in arcade classics, such as Galaga, Mario Bros and Asteroids, have also been inducted. Other inductees listed by Kotaku include Namco founder Masaya Nakamura.
Pac-Man has also turned 30 last May.
