Mortal Kombat Fatalitied

God of War allowed you to rip off the head of a player and use it as a lantern. Splatterhouse unleashed buckets of blood at the tap of the punch button. Even Dead Space 2 lets you see your protagonist die in gruesome and inventive ways.
So what makes Mortal Kombat different from the other games? Well it was refused classification. For such a high profile game which already released over 15 titles. The censorship of this game is, to me, mind boggling.
Not since the banning, and eventually censorship release, of Left 4 Dead 2, have I felt such disappointment in Australia's classification system. It's great to hear the majority of Australian politicians are behind an R18 rating for video games, but it doesn't solve the issue unless it is implemented.
It's been a long time for Australians to have the right to choose what they can and cannot play. Unless gamers unite to make their voice heard louder than ever, it is the case of Duke Nukem Forever syndrome: it will be done when it is done... Untill it is too late.
