Japan sales of Sony and Nintendo consoles fell

A sharp slump in sales for Sony and Nintendo this month might be temporary or something else…
According to Media Create from Gamesindustry.biz, Nintendo’s raid into Japanese gamer homes has finally slowed down with the DS selling 77,488 small dual screens compared with 153,834 in August. The Wii slumped around 39% from last month selling 29,088 to 73,938.
Sony isn’t benefiting from Nintendo’s spike with a spike to sales too. With only 15,564 PSP consoles sold to 33,715 in August and the PS3 selling 13,248 to 21,720.
What boggles analysts is that August 19 didn’t produce killer titles, but still sold higher than now. This week’s slump came even after the massively awesome game, Bioshock, is on the shelves.
These stats certainly make future predictions much less predictable. Why such a slump? Could it be possibly with the AFL and NRL finals currently on? Wait, that’s in Australia, not Japan. There was APEC… Well I’m stumped.

With a small wallet, I would had more acentive to buy a console when expected gem titles are released.
Otherwise I would have kept my cash for something more important. Wouldn't a non-gamer, which is part of the majority of people in the world, do the same?
