Infamous 2 character reboot?
July 24th 2010 11:51
Cole, the main character of Infamous, has updated his look. He is described by IGN editor, Greg Miller, as “more like the person we played as in the original Infamous and less like the man who was in all of those E3 screens and videos”.
The E3 screens and videos of Infamous 2 syndicating around every game website, shows a much younger, hairier and skateboarder-looking Cole. A slap to the face for the moody, bald, older-looking Cole seen in the original Infamous game. The Infamous 2 look brings me to doubt developer Sucker Punch’s decision to make Cole more accessible to the teenager market, feeling like the departure in look is like the departure to the history I had with the character in the original.
Then, a manila folder was given to IGN editor, Greg Miller, with two photos containing updated looks to Cole. And relief hangs over me. Sucker Punch might not have lost touch with their audience after all. Now I’m feeling like Infamous 2 is worth waiting for.
On a lighter note comedic videogames writer, Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw, made a personal competition between developer Sucker Punch's Infamous and developer of another sandbox game, Radical Entertainment's Prototype last year. Yahtzee reviewed both games in a funny side by side video, and made the decision to give both games the same score... Unless both developers create the other main character in a bra.
Both developer's art departments must have had a chat as they released their depiction of the others main character with the common theme of rainbows and unicorns. Yahtzee declared Sucker Punch the winner a week later.
