Head of Art leaves Diablo 3

It is as if the Prime Evils had been resurrected (but I’ve killed them over a hundred times!) and molded pieces of the world of Sanctuary with the world of Azeroth.
The gloomy, gothic look of Diablo 2 is not what it seems in preview shots and demos of Diablo 3, as everyone knows. The art of the game is reminiscent to World of Warcraft, which hardcore fans revolted against online.
But light seems to break through the cloudy haze for hardcore Diablo 2 players with news of Art Director of Diablo 3, Brian Morrisroe’s, departure.
But Blizzard has told MTV Multiplayer the look of the game won’t change.
As Diablo 2 fans click their fingers in unison the world over, Blizzard said Mr Morrisroe is currently developing his own technology company outside the gaming industry.
According to MTV Multiplayer, Lead designer Jay Wilson said to them last week that Mr Morrisroe was the idea’s man for the new look.
“What he (Morissroe) brought to the art team was concepts and ideas — the idea of contrast, the idea of using color more, the idea of going for a more stylized look.”
However the reason for the change in Art was for the sake of playability in a 3D environment. Jay Wilson said it was hard to identify enemies with the background when using a darker colour scheme.
“When you have 30 creatures on screen — and four or five different types — target prioritization is a factor.” Wilson said.
Adding to the fire in Tristram over the look of the game, the newly released Witch Doctor is also facing heat due to their similar, raising dead, powers with the Necromancer; a popular race amongst Diablo 2 fans (including me).
Is Blizzard putting to rest the Necromancer race for the Witch Doctor? There will only be 5 playable classes after all and there were 7 classes (including the expansion pack) in Diablo 2!
News on Diablo 3’s development is getting hotter as the clock ticks away, I’m sure we’ll be hearing new revelations as soon as I stab Diablo with the soulstone for the 100th time on Battlenet.
