The power of the Master Chief wields sales over to the 360’s favour last month in North America.
Market research firm, NPD, had released the September software sales chart showing Halo 3 sales are not even matched by the combined sales of the nine other games in the top ten!
According to Gamasutra, Halo 3 fragged the competition after selling 3.3 MILLION copies. The other nine games, including videogame heavyweights Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Metroid Prime 3 and BioShock, sold a combine 1,656,000: just over half the sales below the Master Chief’s.
In hardware sales, 527,800 Xbox 360’s were sold in September, with the Wii coming second in the charts after selling 501,000 consoles. According to NPD’s Anita Frazier, this marked the 360’s best month outside the last holiday season.
In related news, combined software and hardware sales compared to last years has risen from $778.7 million to $1.36 billion. A rise in sales shows the gaming industry is booming with the rest of the world… Well in North America at least.
