Duke Nukem Forever for 2011!
September 4th 2010 00:54
Lock your daughters up, Duke Nukem is back! Literally! They mean it this time!
Gearbox Software, the developers of the Half Life ports, Borderlands and Brothers in Arms, has finished off what 3D Realms couldn’t: Duke Nukem Forever.
A press release on Duke Nukem’s website confirms the revival and will be released later in 2011.
Duke Nukem, a relic of an age when women are mostly depicted as just eye candy in videogames, has finally returned after a string of law suits, the closure of the developer and development hell for the last 13 years!
The press release also contains one of the coolest quotes a president of a games developer has ever published.
"Hail to the king, baby! It's unbelievable, it kicks ass and it's totally going to happen! … All gamers deserve a happy ending and after all of us gamers feeling the full range of emotions about Duke Nukem Forever, I am thrilled to be in a position with the trust, power and means to make it happen. Am I crazy? Balls of steel, baby, balls of steel!"
Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software certainly doesn’t hold back. But will we really see a happy ending? The development period for this game is unprecedented. Expectations for this game has come and gone and I wonder how gamers will gauge this game. It’s like Captain America’s culture shock when he woke up after falling into frozen water near the end of World War 2.
The world is a different place for Duke, he better be bringing his balls of steel for this outing.
