Director marked for Dead Space Movie

Hopes for a Dead Space film soars as D.J. Caruso, director of big budget films Eagle Eye and Disturbia, is to direct a live-action prequel.
But don’t get your hopes up, as a Dead Space film isn’t D.J. Caruso’s top priority. He is also planned to direct the movie adaption of a 2002 comic book series, Y: The Last Man and a movie adaption to a book called The Art of Making Money. He at least has a main actor, Chris Pine, in the latter film. The 45 year-old told MTV he doesn’t even have a writer ready for the “planned” prequel. I’m guessing we won’t see any leaked footage for the future action-horror movie in 3 years, at least.
But there is plenty of Dead Space content available and coming soon to keep everyone satisfied for years to come.
The Dead Space universe has been the most ambitious video game series in terms of its presence in gaming and non gaming spectrums. The first game released for the PS3, 360 and PC on October 14, 2008, coincided with a 6-part comic book series of the same name and a feature-length animated movie called Dead Space: Downfall. Upon its success, an on-rails shooter prequel, Dead Space Extraction, was released on the Wii and a one-shot comic book of the same name in 2009. If that wasn’t enough, a downloadable prequel to Dead Space 2 will be released around fall this year.
Dead Space 2 will be released on January 25, 2011.
