5th Conflict game packing a new supply of ammo

War is hell in the Conflict series, now starring in its 5th installment, the war just got more personal.
Conflict: Denied Ops is a re-invention of the Conflict series, namely it emphasises more on co-op than squad-based management and offers the player to jump into the boots of your character in First Person. The game also offers semi destructible environments, adding more elements to strategic gameplay, like shooting a piece off a wall to use as a sniper vantage point.
Oh, and you get to use unlimited ammunition. That’s right, there is no longer a need to spend hours or worrying about finding ammo. It then raises the question; does this make the game easier?
Managing Director of Pivotal Games, Jim Bambram, talked with Develop about his upcoming title and how it ditched the need for picking up ammo.
“The big thing for us is that we’ve removed ammunition, the game is a tactical situation that will keep you engaged, not the fact that you’ve got just three clips and ten minutes spent finding more ammo,” explains Bambra.
“It’s the enemies you come up against and how you approach them that should be more interesting. We really want to avoid the scenario where a player won’t want to enter a room because they’ve got no bullets left.”
After watching the trailer, the player is not only dangerous at long range, but can also do some really cool execution techniques at close range. Like grabing an enemies neck and handing them a fatal neckbreaker by crushing their neck backwards.
The term “Denied Operations” are missions carried out by the CIA’s Special Activities Division, who works for the US government. If captured, the US will deny working with them. Sounds like every other covert game line. But the fresh new controls and First Person vision is very promising indeed.
