Game developer Just Add Water (J.A.W) has updated their website to announce a joint-project with Oddworld Inhabitants, which includes multiple Oddworld projects.
J.A.W specialises in digital delivery projects, which includes PlayStation Network’s 2D space shooter, Gravity Crash. This gives us a clue the ‘multiple Oddworld projects’ could be bite-sized downloadable content set in the Oddworld Universe. Going downloadable can be a safe way to experiment with the Oddworld universe in 3D, before creating a full-fledged title.
Developer Oddworld Inhabitants provided one of the very best 2D side-scrolling puzzle adventure games in the PSone era and saw its internal studio shut down after the release of their final title, Stranger’s Wrath, in 2005.
Originally, the Oddworld series was called the “Oddworld Quintology”, with plans for five main games. From 1997 to 2005, two of the five proposed main titles were released, Abe’s Oddysee in 1997 and, Xbox exclusive, Munch’s Oddysee in 2003. Oddworld Inhabitants created two bonus titles based in the Oddworld Universe: Abe’s Exoddus and Stranger’s Wrath.
